The Hazards Of Old Textured Coatings And How To Remove Them Safely

Textured products like textured paint and textured plaster coatings prior to the 1980s contained asbestos and were widely used in homes and commercial buildings. While the use of asbestos in these products was phased out during the 1980s, textured coatings and paints that contain asbestos are still present in a number of older homes and buildings. If your planning to renovate an area in your home that has textured paint or plaster please use extreme caution read this article for some great tips and info to remove those textured coatings from your home and how much it can cost. For more info on asbestos and how your health can be affected and how to avoid exposure see the article in this link If you want to do the job yourself one of the most important methods to use to prevent possible asbestos exposure is to work wet and never dry scrape or sand old textured paints or coatings in buildings built before 1985 to ensure your safety. A great product I would recommend for the job is Home Strip X-Tex Textured Coatings Remover this product clings 100% to all surfaces - including vertical surfaces and ceilings and has a wet work system that keeps the material wet for safe removal. Also all Home Strip products are water based and solvent free so you don't have to worry about toxic fumes.  X-Tex Textured Coatings Remover is the no drip gel remover perfect on multi-layered paint over textured coating, very thick textured coatings, and textured paints. Graffiti Art Or Vandalism?

People have long debated this question and I think everyone has their own opinion when it comes to expression with spray paint. As an artist I find myself torn because it does not seem to be a yes or no answer for me. I have seen both sides of the coin from the hard working business owner struggling to comply with city regulations on graffiti free exteriors to the passionate expressionistic graffiti artist that can not be quieted or painted over. The biggest problems associated with graffiti seems to be a mix of permission and choice of canvas. I've linked a video here to illustrate some public opinions on the subject, the ups and downs to the movement and some examples of what I would consider vandalism and killer expression in a can! If your looking for an Eco-friendly solution to property damage and vandalism from graffiti EcoSolve Americas has Graffiti Go from the Home Strip brand of tough not toxic paint removal products. This water based product provides an effective and safe graffiti removal solution for all surfaces with no fume or burn hazards. Lead and Pregnancy - Protect Your Unborn Baby

If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant you need to avoid exposure to lead while carrying your baby. If you were exposed to lead in the past, this can also be a problem as lead can be stored in your bones for 20 to 30 years and then be released to your developing baby during pregnancy. Be sure to talk to your medical provider about this.
  • Lead can affect the development of your unborn baby’s brain and nervous system. Your child can then have learning and behavior problems.
  • Lead can cause high blood pressure and complications during pregnancy.
  • Lead can cause your baby to be born prematurely or have a low birth weight. Such babies are at higher risks for illness.
  • Although rare, lead can also cause your pregnancy to end in a miscarriage or a still birth.
